General Conference

General Conference

We are so happy that conference is broadcast on our local cable. It is on the NASA channel.

My favorite talks so far were by Elder Oaks and Elder Holland. I really felt like they focused on telling women that they are important, and telling men that any kind of domineering and abuse is wrong.

Dad's New Job
Also, congratulations to Dad on his new job! We are going to send you stuff today about moving and locations. Ben still thinks Dallas would be a great place for you to go. He says we can stay with you for Christmas and is already mentally planning which days we would spend with you and which days we would spend with his family. Funny Benny.

Photos
And Dad wanted us to post new pictures, but of ourselves and not of the cats. We haven't taken any, so here are some old ones that you might not have seen.

I am on the right end. Our friend and coworker Sheri Porter is on the left side. The tall student in the middle is our student Daniele Santurro from Italy. He was in our level 2 class. The other two guys are from Palestine and were at the ELC for a special two month study program. Mahmoud is next to Sheri and Falah is next to me. Falah said he will return home testifying of the goodness of the Mormons. Before they left, Sheri gave them hymnbooks. They went to church because they lived in the dorms on campus and wanted to experience everything. They had their favorite hymns and would walk around the ELC singing them. Falah wants to return to BYU to do the TESOL MA. They are wonderful people and I can't wait to see them again someday!

This is Ben with two of our ELC students from Thailand. The guy's American name is Oat. They were on a field trip to Cove Fort and Bryce Canyon. They are also not members of the church, and were so impressed with the church history they learned at Cove Fort, they wanted to learn more! You can see Daniele again, behind Ben on the left--the one in the white shirt and backpack.

This is me and Beatrice in the office/storage room.

I got a haircut. But it wasn't a very good one. It cost only $15, so what do you expect. One side was shorter than the other. She didn't thin it with thinning shears. It is growing out badly.

This is a picture from a news story I read on CNN. This guy is in high school and plays on the football team. He was born without legs. He can't wear prosthetic legs because he has no thighs to attach them to. He also wrestles and some other stuff, and is really good at it all. The story made the news not just because he is a great legless athlete, but because the football referees kicked him out of a game because he wasn't wearing the required protective leg gear. It didn't matter to them that he had no legs to put the gear on. Stupid Refs.
