Our Trip to Washington

We took a very nice trip to Washington for the 4th of July. We visited my grandma, and my whole family was there. It was the first time we have been together in a long time. We went to the beach one day, but mostly played in Grandma's backyard. It was a nice trip.

Here we are building sandcastles at the beach. That's me with my sister, her husband, their two little girls, and my brother's daughter. The sandcastle was actually just a tallish lump of wet sand with shells and crab lags stuck into it for windows and flags. But the little girls had fun making it.

This is my niece and the chalk portraits she drew of me and Ben. You can see me on the left with orange hair and Ben on the right with yellow hair. She is a great artist.

We visited Grandpa's grave, and took flowers from the yard. The little girls didn't really get the "this is where your great-grandpa is buried" idea.

This is the whole Irvine family on the 4th of July. (We went to a picnic at the house of one of Grandma's friends.) My brother and his family are on the left end. Then my sister and her family. Then me and Ben. And my parents on the right side. The little girls had been playing on a trampoline, in a sandbox, on a swing set, and with a big dog, and were very tired by the time we took pictures.
